Strategies for Second Chances: A Retaker's Guide to Effective PLE Preparation

Welcome to the final stretch of your medical journey—the board exam!

As you stand at the threshold of this significant moment, it's totally normal to feel a mix of excitement, nerves, and a touch of "What have I gotten myself into?"

We get it. We've been there. And today, Dr. Kim is here to share some simple but powerful insights that helped her survive and thrive as a medical intern preparing for the board exam.

So, grab a seat, take a deep breath, and let's dive into the world of board exam prep together. You've got this! 🌟

1. Put yourself to the test with daily practice tests. Answer it properly before you look at the available answers. Review the rationale/explanation even if your answer is correct.

2. Choose a trusted source/study aid that uses a learning approach that keeps you engaged/committed.

3. Focus on diagnosis & treatment for typical and important diseases/conditions. Don’t forget to read about random facts/rare diseases as well.

4. You may start with some topics that are relatively easy for you. This will help you reinforce/assess what you already know.

5. Don't get distracted by what others are doing or have done. Your best is yet to come.

6. I believe everyone needs moral support sa ganitong mga panahon. Find a friend or colleague na makakasabay niyo mag aral for boards. Help keep each other to stay on track! Mag share kayo ng board review study tips sa isa’t isa.

7. Make your study session productive and fun. (It’s okay to have fun) Trust me aabot kayo minsan sa punto na gusto mo nalang maging halaman sa New Zealand hahaha

8. Reflect on how much you want this and the lengths you are willing to go to make it happen. You must have the ability to continue to strive for your best despite difficulty/delay in achieving success.

9. Trust the process. With perseverance, hard work and faith, you can build a life that makes your heart sing. Trust in the journey. If kaya nila, kaya mo rin!

10. Always pray. Ask for guidance, strength, and the gift of wisdom. DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

The road to becoming a doctor is paved with challenges, and facing them head-on is what makes you a future healer.

PLE isn't just a test of your medical knowledge; it's a testament to your dedication and passion for the noble pursuit of medicine.

No matter the outcome, know that this is just one chapter in your remarkable story. Embrace the journey, celebrate your growth, and keep that flame of curiosity burning bright. You've put in the work, and now it's time to shine.

From all of us in PLE QBank, wishing you all the success and fulfillment in your upcoming exam and your future as a compassionate and skilled medical professional.
